Abstinence is the safest and healthiest choice for today’s young people!
Thanks for helping us spread the word!
First off you as an educator need to know that abstinence is not only possible…it’s happening! The latest information from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention shows that more teens are currently choosing abstinence than in the last 25 years. Less than 50% of teens are sexually active. And many of those who have been sexually active in the past are now choosing to start over. It is undeniable that the healthiest choice for non-married youth is to remain sexually abstinent. Presenting the highest health standard should be the goal of any public school health education; talking about sex should be no exception.
When it comes to teaching about sex to unmarried youth, there is no such thing as safe sex. Abstinence is the only 100% effective protection from the possible physical, emotional, mental and social consequences of sex before marriage. Having sex prior to marriage can put a student’s future goals at risk. Pregnancy, STD's and emotional trauma all can occur with sex outside of marriage. Young people who become sexually active enter an arena of high-risk behavior that undeniably can lead to physical and emotional damage. Each year, with a combination of an assumption of invincibility and a lack of guidance, millions of teens ignore those risks and suffer the consequences. Thanks for helping us reach your students with the powerful message of abstinence!
Schedule a Presentation
If you would like HEART to come speak to your students please contact either via e-mail at infoheart@birthline.org or by phone (320)252-4150.
If you are a teacher who has already scheduled a presentation for your students here are some forms you might find helpful.
At the end of a HEART presentation we have all people present fill out evaluations. Print these off before so that when your speaker is finished they can hand these out to your class.

We also hand out brochures to each of your students after we are finished speaking so print enough off before the presentation so we can make sure each student gets one!

Also if you would like to send a letter to each of your students’ parents prior to your class’s HEART presentation, here is a letter you can use that will inform parents about HEART and its message as well as encourage parents to continue the conversation after their teen hears our message!
